One Month Until Summer!

I'm writing this blog entry from the vantage of my mother's kitchen in Kelowna where we have been enjoying local wines and some scary bike rides on the Kettle Valley Railway. The drive up is a little harrowing, but the bear tracks reminded me too much of how small we really can be...

On Monday, however, it's back to Ottawa to finish up some demos of new songs I've been recording with Dave Draves at Little Bullhorn and to get ready for a bunch of shows!

To celebrate the start of Ottawa's music festival season, my backing band and I will be playing two sets at the Elmdale Tavern on Thursday, June 10! Come on down for a pint of Beau's and get a head start on this year's Westfest activities!

Knowing that I need to remain in Ottawa this year to focus on recording a new album (and hence will be saving all my major touring for 2011), I've been putting out feelers for a few local side projects to help ease my constant restlessness. A few fine acts are reaching out, and I really look forward to collaborations, whether in studio or on the stage! Contact me if you are looking for accordion or female vocals!

It's been no secret that my accordion and I often join Evil Farm Children on stage for special occasions. On Friday, May 28, I'll be taking the Elmdale Tavern stage with a bunch of amazing local musicians for a Women's Cancer Fundraiser! "Rockers for Knockers" will feature Christina Gordon, the Bush Pilots, Boom Creek and Evil Farm Children! Join us for a night of amazing acts and contribute to a great cause! If you can't make it to the show, but would like to donate, please call 613-722-7224. We are asking that you please refer to “Rockers For Knockers” when you call.

Event: Rockers for Knockers, breast cancer fundraiser with Evil Farm Children, Boom Creek, Bush Pilots and Christina Gordon!
When: Friday, May 28, 2010 - doors open at 8:00pm
Where: Elmdale Tavern, Ottawa, ON

Enjoy the summer weather! I look forward to seeing you soon!

Marie-Josée xx
