September, 2005

A month has passed since my last entry! Holy! Again, where did the time go?

As far as the house renovations go, there's just the kitchen to paint. I can't wait to finish and move on to my many, many art projects!! We also survived the Old Ottawa South Garage Sale. Luckily, the weather was perfect: not a cloud in sight, however, we didn't die in the sweltering Ottawa heat we all experienced earlier this year. In the middle of the afternoon, Arthur McGregor from the Ottawa Folklore Centre asked me to busk near his store - a very welcome break from haggling over prices. Many thanks to band mate and good friend Aalya Ahmad who joined me with her fiddle! We were certainly quite a sight - her and I with our exotic instruments and our brightly coloured hair!!!

Here at the house, we also have a new roommate, Karine, who just moved here from Montreal. We've been doing our best to integrate her into a variety of amazing Ottawa art and music communities. With her sparkling personality and incredible energy, we're very happy to have her with us. We'll be certain to introduce her at upcoming shows!

Speaking of shows, Marc, Iain and I had a blast playing at the 2005 Ottawa Folk Festival. Our 'taking turns' session with Tito Medina and his band ended up being more of a jam as we sat in on each songs! We were so elated that we floated from the Festival grounds at the end of the day!

Many thanks to all of you who came out to Rasputin's Folk Café on Friday, September 9 to make the Casadore show a sell-out success! On stage, Marc promised that we'd be done recording our CD before the end of the month, and I'm going to hold him to that! That night, Emily King, accompanied by our own Marc Beland, opened the show, and it was breathtaking! Keep your eyes on this duo because they have what it takes to go really, really far!!!

Just a reminder, Thursday, September 15 marks the start of LadyFest Ottawa 2005. This festival boasts the best craft sale in town, as well as numerous workshops and very talented musical acts. At this festival, I will be performing my first public solo show!

Remember that I'm available for weddings and private functions. If you have any questions, please contact me at

That about wraps things up for now!

Take care!
